A 28-year-old man is in critical condition after a hit-and-run in Brampton early Monday morning.
Peel Regional Police say the incident happened around 5:19 a.m. at Bovaird Drive West and McLaughlin Road. Investigators allege a newer blue Toyota RAV4 was heading north on McLaughlin before turning right onto Bovaird and striking the pedestrian as he crossed the intersection.
After the initial impact, the victim was hit by two additional vehicles that remained at the scene. The driver of the RAV4 briefly stopped but then fled.
The injured man was taken to hospital with critical injuries. Roads in the area were closed during the investigation but reopened shortly after noon.
The Major Collision Bureau is now handling the case and is asking witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
