Six teenagers were taken to hospital following a crash in Clarington on Wednesday morning, with one suffering life-threatening injuries.

Durham police responded to the collision on Longworth Avenue near Jackman Road shortly after 11 a.m. Investigators say a westbound Volkswagen Golf collided with an eastbound Ford Explorer.

Four of the teens were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries, while two were transported to a trauma centre in the Toronto area. One of those victims remains in critical condition, while the other is reported to be stable.

A female driver involved in the crash was also treated for minor injuries. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
