Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating a crash in Simcoe that left a 77-year-old woman seriously injured and an OPP officer hurt.
The collision occurred around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Norfolk Street North and Riverside Road. According to the Special Investigations Unit, the officer was driving south to respond to a call when their vehicle collided with a Honda CR-V.
The woman driving the SUV suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She was initially taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to a trauma centre in Hamilton. The officer involved sustained minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
