Two residents escaped safely but have been displaced after a house fire in Thorndale on Sunday morning.

Emergency crews were called to a home on Harrison Street around 10:20 a.m. after the occupants noticed smoke and got out in time. Firefighters from multiple stations responded, with more than 30 personnel working to bring the blaze under control, a process that took several hours.

Officials say the fire had spread throughout the home, with flames visible from multiple areas. Crews initially battled it from outside before moving in to contain it and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures. The home was equipped with functioning smoke alarms.

A section of King Street was closed while crews worked at the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and there is no damage estimate yet. Support is being arranged through victim services for those affected.
