The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating a late-night incident involving a motorcyclist in Vaughan.
Officers were called to Purcell Crescent near Drummond Drive and Keele Street around 10 p.m. Sunday for a welfare check. Upon arrival, they encountered a motorcyclist who fled the area. Shortly afterward, the rider was involved in a single-vehicle crash a short distance away.
The 42-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to a trauma centre, where he is now reported to be in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. Police also deployed a canine unit to assist in searching for evidence related to the incident.
No other suspects are being sought. The province’s Special Investigations Unit has taken over the case, assigning multiple investigators and identifying one officer as the subject of the probe.
