A 58-year-old woman from Hanmer has died following a head-on crash involving a commercial vehicle on Highway 17.
Ontario Provincial Police responded to the collision around 1:30 p.m. on April 21. The woman, who was driving the passenger vehicle, was taken to hospital with critical injuries and later died. The driver of the commercial motor vehicle was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The highway was shut down in both directions for nearly nine hours as investigators examined the scene. Police, with support from collision reconstruction teams, continue to investigate the cause and are asking witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
