Two people had to be rescued after their pickup truck became stranded in floodwaters near Sault Ste. Marie earlier this week.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police, the incident happened on April 18 along Mile 38 Road, just off Highway 17. The pair drove into a washed-out section of roadway, causing their vehicle to quickly fill with water.
As conditions worsened, they climbed onto the roof of the truck and called 911 for help while water levels continued to rise.
Emergency crews, including Goulais Fire and Rescue, responded with a rescue boat to reach the stranded individuals. Sault Search and Rescue also assisted, bringing specialized water rescue equipment.
Both individuals were safely brought to shore.
