A fatal crash in Huron East earlier this year has led to charges against a local driver.
Emergency crews were called just before 9 a.m. on Feb. 17 to North Line, north of Hydro Line Road, after reports of a head-on collision. Responders found a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle with significant damage.
The driver of the car suffered critical injuries and was taken to a London hospital. A passenger in the same vehicle and the pickup truck driver were treated for minor injuries.
Three days later, the injured driver, an 84-year-old resident of North Huron, died in hospital.
Police have since charged the 36-year-old pickup truck driver with careless driving causing death, as well as failing to wear a seatbelt properly.
