Provincial police are searching for a driver involved in a hit-and-run that injured a young pedestrian in Orillia.

The incident happened around 5:45 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Highway 12 West and Monarch Drive, where a blue sedan struck a youth in a crosswalk. According to Orillia OPP, the driver briefly got out of the vehicle before getting back in and fleeing the scene.

Police describe the suspect as an older bald man wearing sunglasses and a large grey beard.

Investigators are asking anyone with information or video footage that could assist in identifying the driver to contact the OPP.
