A fatal boating incident on the St. Lawrence River is under investigation after a vessel overturned Saturday night.
Provincial police say several people were aboard a 15-foot aluminum boat when it capsized just north of Grenadier Island in the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands, roughly 50 kilometres downstream from Kingston.
One individual was initially reported missing. Firefighters later located a 41-year-old Ottawa resident unresponsive in the water. The person was transported to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
