A fiery single-vehicle crash involving a transport truck caused major disruptions on Highway 401 in Scarborough early this morning.
The incident was reported shortly before 4:30 a.m., prompting lane closures in multiple areas. Ontario Provincial Police shut down the westbound express lanes at Morningside Avenue and the westbound collector lanes at McCowan Road. Eastbound express lanes at Brimley Road were also temporarily closed as crews worked to put out the fire.
There have been no confirmed reports of injuries. Eastbound lanes reopened shortly after 5 a.m., but westbound express lanes at Morningside Avenue remained closed for several hours and did not reopen until just before 4 p.m.
The situation has since cleared, and traffic is now moving normally.
