Peel Regional Police have charged two tow truck drivers from Mississauga following a dangerous driving incident that disrupted an active crash investigation in late 2025.

The incident occurred on the night of Dec. 18 at the intersection of Mavis Road and The Queensway, where officers were already responding to a collision. During the investigation, two tow trucks allegedly racing to claim the job sped toward the scene, driving aggressively through nearby streets, ignoring traffic signals and stop signs.

As they approached, both drivers lost control and crashed into the active investigation area. One truck struck a vehicle involved in the original collision, while the other narrowly avoided hitting a police officer and a pedestrian. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Both drivers fled immediately after the incident. Investigators later reviewed body camera and CCTV footage, which helped identify the suspects and showed the trucks driving recklessly through residential neighbourhoods prior to the crash.

After several months, police arrested Abdulaziz Omar and Bilal Nofal, both 30. They now face multiple charges, including dangerous driving, failing to remain at the scene of an accident, and violations related to tow truck operation standards and prohibited practices.
