A motorcyclist in his 20s has died after a collision with an SUV in Toronto’s Roncesvalles Village on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the crash happened around 4:10 p.m. near Roncesvalles and Howard Park Avenues. The rider became trapped beneath the SUV and was later freed before being rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe the SUV, driven by a man in his 40s, was stopped at the time and waiting to turn when the motorcycle struck it. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.

Early indications suggest speed and wet road conditions due to rain may have contributed, though the exact cause is still under investigation.

Howard Park Avenue was closed between Dundas Street West and Roncesvalles for several hours but has since reopened.
