Ontario Provincial Police are reminding drivers to properly secure their tires after a serious incident on Highway 417 left one person badly injured.
Police said the crash happened on May 8 when a tire detached from an eastbound vehicle and crossed into westbound traffic, striking another vehicle.
The impacted driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Investigators say the incident highlights the importance of double-checking and re-torquing tires after installation or seasonal tire changes.
The owner of the detached tire has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act.
