A 36-year-old man from Leamington is facing multiple charges after a cyclist was struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning and the driver allegedly fled the scene.
Ontario Provincial Police say the incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. on Erie Street South near Coronation Avenue in Leamington. The cyclist, also 36 years old, sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Investigators later located the suspect and laid several charges, including impaired operation with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, operation causing bodily harm, and failing to remain at the scene of a crash involving injuries.
Police also suspended the accused’s driver’s licence for 90 days and impounded the vehicle for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court on June 23.
