A worker in his early 20s has died following a workplace incident at an auto shop in Kanata over the weekend.
Ottawa Police Service said emergency crews were called to a business on Edgewater Street around 1:40 p.m. Saturday after a tire reportedly ruptured inside a mechanical bay.
Paramedics said the employee suffered critical, life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital, where he later died. Police stated the incident is not considered suspicious.
The incident has been classified as a workplace fatality, and the Ontario Ministry of Labour is now leading an investigation at the auto shop, with police assisting.
