Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a serious hit-and-run incident that occurred Wednesday afternoon at a Pioneer gas station in Mansfield.

Authorities said officers responded to the scene around 2:44 p.m. following reports that a driver attempted to leave the station without paying for fuel. Investigators allege the suspect, driving a black Ford SUV towing a camper trailer, struck a gas station employee while trying to flee.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a trauma centre in the Toronto area for treatment.

Police said the SUV was displaying a stolen licence plate identified as 233 DST, while the attached camper trailer carried stolen plate 521 DTB.

Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, saw the vehicle involved, or has dash cam or surveillance footage to contact police.
