An early morning apartment fire in Mississauga prompted the evacuation of residents from a high-rise building in the city’s east end.
Fire crews were dispatched to a tower on Lolita Gardens near Dundas Street East and Cawthra Road shortly after 7 a.m. after flames were reported on the ninth floor.
Paramedics transported two occupants to hospital with smoke-related injuries. Their conditions have not been released.
Police temporarily closed nearby roads and redirected traffic as emergency responders worked at the scene and firefighters brought the blaze under control.
Investigators remain at the property to determine how the fire started.
