A driver from Carleton Place is facing impaired driving allegations after a crash along Highway 7 in Ottawa’s west end during the early hours of Saturday.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers were called to the scene shortly before 2:30 a.m. after a vehicle reportedly lost control, left the highway, and rolled into a roadside ditch.

Police determined the 21-year-old man was allegedly impaired by alcohol. After failing a roadside screening test, he was transported to the Ottawa detachment for further evaluation.

He has since been charged with impaired operation and driving with a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit. In addition, authorities issued a 90-day licence suspension and seized the vehicle for one week pending a future court appearance.
