A man was critically injured after an overnight incident involving a collision and a pedestrian on Highway 417 in Ottawa, according to Ontario Provincial Police.
Police said they were called to the area near Bronson Avenue shortly before 3 a.m. on Friday following reports of a crash involving two vehicles in the westbound lanes. A man was later found in the eastbound lanes with life-threatening injuries.
Paramedics transported the victim to hospital in critical condition after responding around 2:48 a.m.
The incident led to a temporary closure of Highway 417 in both directions. Eastbound lanes reopened shortly after 3:30 a.m., while westbound lanes were cleared and reopened around 7:50 a.m.
Investigators believe a transport truck was in the area at the time and may be connected to the events, noting the driver might not be aware of what occurred. Police are asking that driver, or anyone with information, to contact investigators as the case remains under review.
