A 60-year-old man from Markdale has been charged following a collision on April 9 that injured a pedestrian and killed a dog.

The incident occurred around noon on Highway 6 in Arthur, Ont. Police say the pedestrian and their dog were crossing the highway when they were struck by a northbound transport truck attempting to turn onto Frederick Street East.

The pedestrian was airlifted to a trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver faces charges of careless driving causing bodily harm and failing to yield to a pedestrian.
