A fire inside a laundry chute at Toronto’s Fairmont Royal York prompted a temporary evacuation of the downtown hotel early Saturday morning.
Toronto Fire Services responded to the hotel on Front Street shortly before 5:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a fire within the building. The incident escalated to a two-alarm response, and guests were safely evacuated as a precaution.
Fire officials later confirmed the blaze had been brought under control and that no injuries were reported.
Guests were permitted to return to the hotel just before 7:30 a.m. after crews ensured the building was safe to re-enter.
The cause of the fire has not been released.
