A two-alarm fire broke out at a multi-unit bungalow in Scarborough on Sunday afternoon, prompting road closures in the surrounding area.

Emergency crews were dispatched at about 1:33 p.m. to 130 Ellesmere Road, where firefighters arrived to find heavy flames and smoke engulfing the building, which contains multiple apartments.

Officials say the fire was contained to the structure and did not spread to nearby properties. One woman was assessed at the scene by paramedics and declined transport to hospital.

Fire crews have not yet been able to complete a full search of the building, leaving it unclear whether anyone else may still be inside.

As a result of the incident, several roads remain closed, including Parkwoods Village Drive eastbound at Victoria Park Avenue and Ellesmere Road westbound at Warden Avenue.
