Two teenagers allegedly stole a Honda CR-V before crashing into a transport truck on Highway 400 and fleeing on foot.
The crash occurred northbound around 6 a.m. Wednesday, south of County Road 88 in Bradford West Gwillimbury. Witnesses reported seeing two individuals exit the vehicle and run toward Bradford. Police quickly located and arrested them. The crash left the Honda CR-V undriveable, and both northbound and southbound lanes were temporarily closed while the scene was cleared.
Investigators determined the SUV had been reported stolen earlier that morning in Peel Region. A 17-year-old from Vaughan and a 15-year-old from Mississauga now face multiple charges, including motor vehicle theft, dangerous operation, and failing to remain at the scene. The 17-year-old is being held for a bail hearing.
Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information, dashcam footage, or who witnessed the collision to come forward.
