A transport truck fire forced the closure of a long stretch of Highway 101 in northern Ontario for more than six hours on Sunday.
According to Ontario Provincial Police, the highway was shut down in both directions between Highway 129 near Chapleau and Highway 144 near Timmins while emergency crews responded to the incident.
Police reported that officers and other first responders remained at the scene into the afternoon as efforts continued to manage the situation and clear the roadway. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
Shortly before 7 p.m., OPP announced that the affected section of Highway 101 had been reopened and traffic restrictions had been lifted.
