A 74-year-old Fergus man is facing multiple charges following an alleged hit-and-run involving a pedestrian at a crosswalk.

Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to the intersection of Millburn Boulevard and St. David Street South on Monday at approximately 2:15 p.m. after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

According to police, the pedestrian was crossing the road when a driver allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign, hit the individual, and attempted to leave the scene. Investigators say the pedestrian struck the vehicle’s hood several times in an effort to get the driver to stop.

Despite the collision, no injuries were reported.

The driver has been charged with careless driving, failing to remain at the scene of a collision, and failing to provide proof of insurance upon request.
