Fire crews spent more than an hour battling a residential fire in Ottawa’s rural south end on Sunday afternoon.
Ottawa Fire Services say they received multiple 911 calls just before 1:45 p.m. reporting a deck fire in the 3600 block of River Road near Osgoode. When firefighters arrived, they found flames spreading from the side of a home into an attached garage.
Crews faced additional challenges due to the lack of nearby hydrants, requiring a water shuttle system to supply the scene. Live underground hydro lines also posed hazards during firefighting efforts.
The fire was brought under control shortly before 3:20 p.m. No injuries were reported, though residents have been displaced and are receiving support from Victim Services.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blaze.
