A 48-year-old Brampton man has been charged with obstructing a peace officer following an investigation into a reported collision in Guelph.
The case began on June 1 when a man attended the Collision Reporting Centre and told staff he had been involved in a crash as a passenger in one of the vehicles.
Days later, the driver of the second vehicle provided a different account, alleging that the man who reported being a passenger was actually driving at the time of the collision. According to investigators, the man allegedly switched seats with his passenger after the crash before reporting the incident.
Following the investigation, Guelph police arrested the Brampton resident on Thursday and charged him with obstructing a peace officer.
The accused’s name has not been released, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 22.
