A 57-year-old Wheatley man suffered life-threatening injuries following a single-vehicle crash in Romney Township on June 12.
Chatham-Kent police responded to the collision on Erie Street South at approximately 4:29 p.m. Investigators determined the vehicle struck a berm, became airborne, and landed on a nearby beach.
No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the incident.
The driver was transported to Leamington District Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Windsor Regional Hospital for further treatment.
Due to the severity of the crash, the Chatham-Kent Police Traffic Management Unit took over the investigation. Erie Street South was closed for several hours while investigators examined the scene but has since reopened.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
