Via Rail passengers travelling between Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal experienced several hours of delays Tuesday afternoon after a person was struck and killed by a train near Kingston.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. in Lansdowne involving Via Rail Train 65 traveling from Montreal to Toronto. No passengers or crew members were injured.

Ontario Provincial Police confirmed the pedestrian was found deceased and said the death is not considered suspicious.

Train service was temporarily suspended while authorities responded, affecting multiple routes in both directions. Via Rail reported that operations resumed shortly after 6 p.m., though some delays continued as service returned to normal.
