A woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after falling approximately six metres down an embankment at Rockcliffe Lookout in Ottawa early Wednesday morning.
Ottawa Fire Services’ rope rescue team was dispatched to the scene around 1:45 a.m. A firefighter and tactical paramedic initially rappelled down the rocks to assess the woman before determining she could be reached more safely from the Ottawa River shoreline.
The woman was conscious when rescuers arrived. Crews used a specialized Stokes basket to transport her from the shoreline to the roadway, where paramedics were waiting.
She was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was reported to be in stable condition. The rescue operation concluded shortly after 2:30 a.m.
