A 13-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being struck by a vehicle while riding a scooter in Ajax on Thursday evening.

Durham Regional Police responded to the collision at the intersection of Harwood Avenue North and Rossland Road West at approximately 6:30 p.m. Investigators say the boy was travelling west across the intersection on a scooter when he was hit by a southbound vehicle.

The teen suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and are asking anyone with information, dashcam, cellphone, or surveillance footage to come forward.
