An 86-year-old Greater Sudbury man remains in critical condition after the mobility scooter he was operating collided with a pickup truck at a downtown intersection Monday afternoon.

The crash happened around 1:40 p.m. near the intersection of Lloyd and Paris streets. Police said the man was crossing southbound in the Lloyd Street crosswalk toward Paris Street when the collision occurred with an eastbound pickup truck.

Investigators reviewed witness statements and CCTV footage, concluding the mobility scooter entered the crosswalk against the pedestrian signal while the pickup truck had a green light. As a result, police said no charges will be laid against the pickup truck driver.
