A Brampton-based transport company has dismissed a driver following a serious collision near Ottawa involving a farm tractor.
The crash occurred June 24 on Mitch Owens Road, south of Ottawa, when a transport truck struck the rear of a tractor that was towing farm equipment at Ivandale Farm. The farmer operating the tractor, Craig Waddell, a sixth-generation dairy farmer and father of three, was injured in the incident.
Mohanpur Transport confirmed the driver, a man in his 30s, was employed by the company and had several years of experience in trucking, with no previous collision history. The company stated that the driver has since been terminated. In addition, Ottawa police have charged the driver with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
