A fire involving an air conditioning unit at a London apartment building has prompted a public safety reminder from London Fire Department during the ongoing heatwave.

Firefighters responded Thursday to the 200 block of Callaway Road, where they found flames on a second-floor balcony of a three-storey apartment building. Crews said the fire spread from the balcony into the unit before it was brought under control.

Firefighters were able to prevent significant damage to the building. No injuries were reported, and one cat was safely rescued from the apartment.
