An early morning house fire caused extensive damage to a bungalow in southeast Barrie on Friday, but no injuries were reported.
Barrie Fire and Emergency Services responded to multiple 911 calls reporting the blaze on Hurst Drive shortly before 1:30 a.m. The fire began in the garage before spreading throughout the home, prompting a response from more than 20 firefighters.
All occupants, including the family’s dog, escaped safely, while nearby residents were temporarily evacuated as a precaution. Fire crews brought the blaze under control by approximately 6:30 a.m.
The cause of the fire and the total cost of the damage remain under investigation.
