A 20-year-old Brampton man is facing charges after allegedly crashing a jet ski into a City of Toronto lifeguard vessel near Scarborough Bluffs.

Toronto police say the collision occurred on July 2 while a lifeguard was patrolling a designated swimming area. The impact threw the lifeguard into the water, resulting in minor injuries.

Investigators allege the jet ski operator continued riding after the crash before another lifeguard directed him back to shore. Marine Unit officers arrested the suspect, identified as Tristan Latchman, who has been charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance.
