A 76-year-old Vaughan man has been charged following a nine-vehicle collision that injured six people on Friday afternoon.

York Regional Police responded to the crash near Major Mackenzie Drive and Wellness Way, east of Jane Street, shortly before 2 p.m. Six people, including two youths, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle. Westbound lanes on Major Mackenzie Drive were temporarily reduced during the cleanup but have since reopened. Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
