A 72-year-old Moorefield resident has died after a single-vehicle crash south of Mount Forest early Wednesday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police said the vehicle struck a hydro pole on Sideroad 5 West between Concession 9 and Highway 6 at approximately 1 a.m. The driver suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger was taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to a trauma centre. Police said the passenger’s injuries were considered minor.
Sideroad 5 West reopened shortly before noon after the investigation concluded at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by OPP.
