A 56-year-old woman from Carleton Place died after being struck by a passing vehicle following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Kingston on Wednesday evening.
Ontario Provincial Police say the incident occurred around 7 p.m. in the westbound lanes near the Division Street interchange. The preliminary investigation indicates the woman’s vehicle first collided with the highway’s concrete centre median. After exiting her vehicle, she was struck by another vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Highway 401 was closed for several hours as police investigated the fatal collision.
