A driver was rescued after becoming trapped in a vehicle following a single-vehicle crash off Highway 417 west of Ottawa early Sunday.
Ottawa Fire Services responded around 3:57 a.m. to the westbound lanes of Highway 417 near Kinburn Side Road after reports of a vehicle in a ditch. Firefighters found the driver trapped inside and used specialized extrication tools to free the occupant in about 25 minutes.
Ontario Provincial Police said the driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries. No charges have been laid in connection with the crash.
Fire crews also disconnected the vehicle’s batteries before clearing the scene.
