Three people were hospitalized following a serious two-vehicle collision on a rural road west of Ottawa Monday afternoon, including one person who was airlifted to hospital.

The crash occurred shortly before 2 p.m. at the intersection of Flewellyn and Ormrod roads near Ashton. Emergency crews rescued a man in his 60s who was trapped inside a pickup truck after firefighters removed the vehicle’s roof and used hydraulic equipment to free him. He was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.

The occupants of the SUV, a woman in her 30s and a man in his 70s, were also injured. The woman was transported by ambulance in serious but stable condition, while the man was airlifted to hospital with serious but stable injuries.

Flewellyn Road remained closed for more than six hours as emergency crews responded and police investigated the crash.
