A house fire in Sarnia has resulted in attempted murder and arson charges against two local residents following a police investigation.

Emergency crews responded to a fire at a home on Wiltshire Drive on July 9. Four occupants escaped before first responders arrived, while firefighters rescued another person from inside the residence.

Police said one individual suffered minor injuries and another sustained serious, life-altering injuries, though both are expected to recover. Investigators later determined the circumstances surrounding the fire led to criminal charges.

A 32-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, both from Sarnia, have each been charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of arson causing bodily harm. The man also faces an additional charge of failing to comply with a probation order.
