A 27-year-old man has died after the e-scooter he was riding collided with a vehicle in Toronto’s west end on Friday morning.

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Bloor Street West and Dufferin Street, near Dufferin Mall, shortly after 8 a.m. Paramedics transported the rider to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police said the e-scooter was travelling south on Dufferin Street when it collided with a black Honda Civic that was heading north and turning left into the mall. The rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, while the 30-year-old driver of the car remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Dufferin Street was temporarily closed as police investigated the fatal collision but has since reopened to traffic.
