A Flamboro Speedway employee has died after being injured in an incident at the racetrack in Flamborough on Saturday night.
Hamilton police said emergency crews were called to the speedway on 5th Concession Road West at about 9:15 p.m. after the worker was hurt in an accident on the track. The individual was taken to Hamilton General Hospital, where they later died from their injuries.
Authorities have not released further details about how the incident occurred. According to the facility’s co-owner, the incident occurred when two cars collided, causing one vehicle to go airborne and crash into the starter’s stand where the worker was working.
Patrol officers, detectives, forensic investigators and collision reconstruction specialists attended the scene, while the Ontario Ministry of Labour has assumed responsibility for the investigation.
