A 21-year-old Toronto man is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing from Durham Regional Police during an attempted traffic stop in Oshawa.
Police said officers tried to stop an Acura sedan near Coldstream Drive and Ritson Road on the morning of July 16 after observing unsafe driving. The driver allegedly sped away, lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into two parked cars before attempting to escape on foot. He was arrested shortly afterward.
Israel Barnes has been charged with dangerous operation, stunt driving, fleeing police, failing to obey a stop sign, and driving without the proper licence. He has since been released on an undertaking.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Durham Regional Police.
