A 21-year-old woman has been charged after an overnight crash in Etobicoke brought down a hydro pole and created a hazardous scene involving exposed power lines.
Emergency crews were called shortly after 1:30 a.m. to the area of Islington Avenue and Aylesbury Road, where police say a vehicle collided with a hydro pole. The impact knocked the pole to the ground, leaving live wires hanging close to a TTC bus.
Although no one was hurt, officers arrested the driver at the scene on allegations of impaired driving.
The intersection remained closed while crews cleared debris and secured the damaged electrical infrastructure before reopening the roads around 4 a.m.
