More than 35 firefighters responded to a pair of house fires in Meaford Tuesday evening after a blaze that started in a garage spread to a neighbouring home.
Meaford Fire crews were dispatched to a structure fire at 509 Nelson Street West shortly after 7:30 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found the garage fully involved, with flames extending to the house next door due to strong winds and intense fire conditions.
Firefighters from departments across the region worked for several hours to bring both fires under control, remaining on scene until about 1:30 a.m.
No injuries were reported, and all occupants were able to safely evacuate the affected homes before crews arrived.
