A 62-year-old Bonfield resident is facing several charges after allegedly hitting a municipal road worker with a pickup truck and leaving the scene of the collision.
Ontario Provincial Police say the incident happened on Laurier Street at around 1:30 p.m. on July 24, where the worker was carrying out road construction duties. The victim suffered minor injuries, while the driver allegedly fled without stopping or reporting the crash.
Investigators were able to identify the pickup truck and locate the suspect at a nearby property, where the driver was arrested. Police also seized the vehicle as part of the investigation.
The accused has been charged with failing to remain at the scene, careless driving, failing to report a collision, and operating a vehicle without insurance. A court appearance in North Bay has been scheduled for a later date.
