A 20-year-old Brampton driver is facing charges after a suspected impaired driving crash in Erin that left a hydro pole severely damaged Sunday evening.
Ontario Provincial Police say emergency crews responded to the collision on 9th Line around 8 p.m. after a vehicle struck a hydro pole with enough force to split it in two. The road was closed for several hours while utility crews repaired the damaged power infrastructure.
Police allege impaired driving was a factor in the crash. The driver has been charged with refusing to comply with a lawful breath demand and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
As a result of the incident, the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
